Dedicated Landscapers Wanted for Cemetery Administration

We are now seeking two dedicated landscapers with experience in the landscaping industry for the Cemetery Administration. About the Positions

The Cemetery Administration is part of the Church of Sweden in Västerås and is responsible for burial services, where a key task is to allocate burial plots for all deceased. We aim to provide the best possible service to our visitors regarding the care and maintenance of our 23 cemeteries.

As a landscaper, you will work to create, develop, and maintain our outdoor environments. Your tasks will be varied and may include:

• Grave excavation and land development
• Simple landscaping tasks such as paving, curbing, and stone setting
• Gravestone inspections and temporary securing
• Planting of trees, shrubs, perennials, and seasonal flowers
• Tree pruning and simple tree work
• Snow and ice control during the winter season

You will also participate in various projects where you follow drawings and timelines. The work includes maintaining the cultural heritage that cemeteries represent, which involves renovating walls, stairs, paths, and grave structures, while also developing cemeteries with new burial areas, accessibility adaptations, irrigation systems, and more. The work team consists of about six people, and you often work in pairs. The position is based in Hovdestalund, but work is carried out at cemeteries throughout the Västerås municipality.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Relevant education in land and landscaping or equivalent experience
• Experience in landscaping, preferably in a public environment
• Knowledge of tools and land and landscaping machinery used in garden landscaping
• The ability to read and understand drawings
• Knowledge of plants, plant environments, and aesthetics
• Good physical endurance – the work is physically demanding
• Driver's license (B)
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written

It is an advantage if you have:

• Professional certificate as a landscaper
• Operator's license for excavators and/or loaders
• Pruning competence
• Experience in cemetery landscaping and maintenance
• BE or C driver's license
• Chainsaw and/or brushcutter certification
